Mr. Albert Chapleau

September 8, 1943 – April 21, 2025

With great sadness Albert’s family announces his passing after a very brief illness at the age of 81 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Lady Minto Hospital. He was born in Cochrane on September 8th, 1943 to the late Jack Chapleau and the late Lena (nee Hudson). He worked tirelessly his entire life on the family farm. This is the only life he's ever known and by the age 15 he was able to farm the land without help from his father or uncles. In 2013 Chapleau Farms Chapleau Farms was designated as a Century Farm in the Cochrane Area. After more then 112 years farming, Albert was still actively harvesting red potatoes and running a cow-calf operation. His love was where he lived. He loved what he did even though it's a lot of work for not much return, he was happy doing it. In 1991 he married the love of his life Valerie who became his most precious companion on the farm. Behind his legacy he leaves his beloved wife Valerie Chapleau (nee Sweet) his brothers Wesley (Judy) Chapleau and John Chapleau, sister-in-law Margaret Chapleau, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Albert was also predeceased by his brothers Joseph Chapleau (2014) and William Chapleau (1944).

Visitations will be held at Irvine & Irvine funeral home, 70 Seventh Avenue South, Cochrane, Ontario on Wednesday April 23rd, 2025 between 2 to 4 pm & 6 to 8 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday April 24th, 2025 followed by luncheon at the Royal Canadian Legion. The interment will take place in the Birch Hill Cemetery later in the spring.
