In Loving Memory of
Mr. Allan Glen Shier
November 29, 1940 – July 27, 2023
With great sorrow his family announces the passing of Allan at the Lady Minto Hospital in Cochrane on Thursday July 27, 2023 at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife Eleanor (nee Casement) of 58 years, his son Kevin (Angela) and their children Jaime and Robbie, his daughter Kyla (Glenn) Prevost and their children Elle (Andrew) and Nikolas and 7 great-grandchildren.
Allan was the brother of Bonnie (the late Don) Axcell, Betty (George) Beadman, the late Shiela (late Pete) Turgeon and Karen Shier. He will also missed by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Allan proudly served his country - a veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a leading aircraft man. He was a man of "a hundred hats" - a graduate of Sir Sanford Fleming College as a resource tech,class A mechanic, held a private pilot license. Employed by the MNR for 30 years, also served as fire chief and building inspector for Glackmeyer Township.
After retirement, he held many positions in the Royal Canadian Legion rising to the position of District Commander. A devoted husband, loving father and grand father and everybody friend.
As per Allan's wishes, a private family celebration of life will be held.
