It is with a heavy heart and much love, that we mourn the peaceful passing of Aurèle Gervais on Saturday December 25, 2021 at the age of 88 years.
Predeceased by his first wife, Marilyn Gervais, he leaves behind his daughter Cheryl Praught (Greg) and grand-children Brendon and Kiley. Aurèle is now re-united in heaven with his eldest daughter, Debby Donovan (Shawn), and will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Chandy (Maarten) and Kory. He also leaves behind two great grand-children Tessa and Liv.
Predeceased by his second wife, Diane Clément Gervais, he leaves behind Diane’s sons, Yanick Brisson (Isabelle) and Benoit Brisson (Jennifer) and his grandchildren Sébastien, Camille and Noémie.
Aurèle will be fondly remembered by his sister, Laurence Bélanger-Larivière along with his large extended family. Previously departed loves ones include Aurèle’s parents, Dosithé and Rebecca Gervais, and his siblings Fernand Gervais, Florent Gervais, Laurette L’Heureux, Georgette Morrissette, Rhéa Bertrand, and Donat Gervais.
Aurèle had a fulfilling life and was loved by many. He grew up on his family farm in Tunis, ON. He worked many jobs to save and build the Glendale Hotel in Iroquois Falls, ON together with his wife Marilyn. His adventures continued on as the Mayor of Iroquois Falls followed by being elected as a Federal Member of Parliament from 1984 to 1988. Aurèle had a passion for classic cars and participated in many car shows. He also loved to travel with his wife Diane especially on cruise ships.
Visitation will be held on Thursday December 30, 2021 from 12:30-2:30pm at Irvine & Irvine Funeral Home in Iroquois Falls, ON. The funeral service will occur at St. Anne’s Church for close family and friends at 3pm. Reception to follow.
***Everyone who wish to attend the visitation will be required to show proof of full vaccination with identification to access the funeral home***
Memorial donations may be made in Aurèle’s name to the Canadian Diabetes Association www.diabetes.ca or the Alzheimer Society of Canada www.alzheimer.ca

The wearing of a mask by everyone in the church during the funeral is mandatory;
