Boyd Oliver

June 27, 1955 – September 30, 2025

Born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, to Jack and Jean Oliver, Boyd grew up in Matheson, where he was one of Alvin Bender’s young boxers. As a boy and young man, he enjoyed playing on local youth hockey teams and later could be found having fun on the broomball court with the Bermont Raiders or competing on many dart league teams.

Boyd was a hard worker, spending much of his life in the forestry and logging industry, as well as dedicating many years to the Ministry of Natural Resources. He bravely fought forest fires across Ontario and, at times, in British Columbia.

Known for his twinkling eyes and jokey sense of humor, Boyd brought laughter and warmth wherever he went. He loved fishing, teasing with a grin, and, most of all, spending time with his family. His easy laugh, hardworking hands, and deep love for those around him will be dearly missed.

Boyd passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side, as per his wishes. He was predeceased by his father, Jack; mother, Jean; and sister, Claudette.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Judy; daughters, Kim (Eric) and Tracy (Dave); son, Kevin; grandchildren, Natasha (Levi), Greg (Guylaine), Devin (Jacqui), and Quentin; and great-grandsons, Boyd and Eli. He is also survived by his brothers, Jack and Ken, and sisters, Roseanne and Leanne.

In keeping with Boyd’s wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local charity of choice.
