Passed away on Saturday March 7, 2020 at the Lady Minto Hospital in Cochrane, Ontario at the age of 84. Stoney was born in Fort Severn First Nation to the late John Stoney and late Kathie Stoney (nee Mekenak).

His final journey back home will take place on Thursday March 12th, 2020 followed by the Funeral Service at 3 pm in the St. Kateri Tekakwitha Roman Catholic Church, Peawanuck First Nation and the burial will take place in Peawanuck First Nation Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Irvine and Irvine funeral home.
