In loving memory of
Cecilia (Cecile) Guindon
June 2, 1944 - November 14, 2024
Cecile passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on November 14, 2024, at Health Sciences North with her children by her side. She is now reunited with her late husband, John Guindon.
In addition to being a loving and devoted wife and mother, Cecile was a grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed and remembered by her children Rico Guindon and Tammy Janssen, son-in-law Eric Janssen, grandchildren Brendan (Emily) Janssen and Kirsten (Scott McDowell) Janssen, and great-grandchildren Nora, Liam, and Robin.
Cecile was born to the late David and Selma Keller and raised on a farm in Hardwood Lake, Ontario. She will be missed by all her sisters and brothers: Ilene (late Tony Arko) (Ernie Weichenthal) Arko, Vivian (late Dan) Keller, Elmer (late Catherine) Keller, late Evelyn (late Ernest) Keller, late Gehardt Keller, Gladys (Bryan) Leclerc, Ralph (Judy) Keller, and Connie (Abbie) Weichenthal, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cecile was a daughter-in-law to the late Edmond and Véronique Guindon and will be missed by her sister and brother-in-laws: Lorraine Blais, Bernard (late Marielle) Guindon, and late Jean-Jacques (Edna) Guindon.
She met the love of her life, John, while he was making a delivery in Chalk River. They were married shortly after and moved to Iroquois Falls around 1966. Cecile and John built a life in Iroquois Falls, enjoying many weekends camping with their little family.
For most of her life, Cecile was a devoted homemaker. After John’s passing in 2011, Cecile started living to help others. She got involved with Saint-Anne’s Kitchen Angels and was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary, Branch 70. She enjoyed Sunday Mass and met many good friends there.
Cecile always looked forward to coffee with friends, reconnecting with her Hardwood Lake family for a good party, and holding her great-grandbabies. She will be remembered for her kind heart and great sense of humour.
Per Cecile’s wishes, cremation has taken place and she will be laid to rest alongside John in Iroquois Falls with a small graveside service in the summer.
Her family would like to thank the team of PSWs, nurses, doctors, and oncologists who provided Cecile with diligent care during her time at the Anson General Hospital and at Health Sciences North.
Donations in remembrance can be made by cheque to Auxiliary to Anson General Hospital to be put towards a vein finder for the Anson General Hospital, as Cecile would have wanted for others.
