Claire Obonsawin (nee LaPalme)

March 14, 1952 - April 1, 2025

With broken hearts the family of Claire announces her sudden passing on Tuesday April 1st, 2025 at the age of 73 at the Montfort Hospital in Ottawa. We find comfort knowing she have now reunited with her son Ben Obonsawin (2012), her mother Carmen LaPalme (nee Latour) (1995) and her father Richard LaPalme (1965).

She will be deeply missed by the love of her life, her husband Robert Obonsawin, son Daniel Obonsawin, daughter Anya Obonsawin (Andres Montero), grandchildren Tristan, Lucas, Mila, Annabel and Maddie, her sister Geraldine (Bill) Helmer, Denise (late Gerry) Paquette, Monique (late Mayo) Paquette and Lina (Daniel) Cantin and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Denis (Dorothy) Obonsawin and Diane Obonsawin. Claire also leaves behind her faithful fur companion Maya, many nieces, nephews, many cousins and dear friends.

Relatives and friends are welcome at Irvine & Irvine Funeral Home, 641 DeTroyes Ave, Iroquois Falls on Wednesday April 9, 2025 from 6 pm to 8 pm. The Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday April 10, 2025 at 10:30 am at Sts-Martyrs-Canadiens Catholic Church in Iroquois Falls. A reception will follow at the Church Hall. She will be laid to rest with Ben at the Abitibi Cemetery in Iroquois Falls.

C’est avec une profonde tristesse que sa famille vous annonce son décès survenu subitement à l’hôpital Montfort d’Ottawa le mardi 1er avril 2025, à l’âge de 73 ans. Elle est allée rejoindre son fils Ben Obonsawin (2012), sa mère Carmen LaPalme (née Latour) (2012) et son père Richard LaPalme (1965).

Elle laisse dans le deuil l’amour de sa vie, son époux Robert Obonsawin, son fils Daniel Obonsawin, sa fille Anya Obonsawin (Andres Montero), ses petits-enfants Tristan, Lucas, Mila, Annabel et Maddie, ses soeurs Geraldine (Bill) Helmer, Denise (feu Gerry) Paquette, Monique (feu Mayo) Paquette et Lina (Daniel) Cantin, et ses beaux-frères, belles-sœurs Denis (Dorothy) Obonsawin et Diane Obonsawin. Claire laisse également sa fidèle compagnonne Maya, plusieurs neveux et nièces, autres parents et amis.

La famille accueillera parents et amis au Salon funéraire Irvine & Irvine le mercredi 9 avril 2025 de 18h à 20h. Les funérailles auront lieu le jeudi 10 avril 2025 à 10h30 à l’Eglise Sts-Martyrs-Canadiens d’Iroquois Falls. Une réception suivra à la Salle de l’Église. Claire sera inhumée avec son fils Ben au Cimetière Abitibi d'Iroquois Falls.
