Mrs. Colette Champagne

April 4, 1933 – February 22, 2021

Passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at the South Centennial Manor in Iroquois Falls on Monday February 22, 2021 at the age of 87. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Champagne (2012). She leaves behind her twelve children Denis (Linda), Suzanne (Marcel), Monique (Bob), Claude, Diane (Gary), Pauline, Luc, Marc (Laura), Sylvie, Ellen, Lynne (Wes) and Stéphane. She will be fondly remembered by twenty three grandchildren, twenty eight great-grandchildren, one great great grandchild other relatives and friends.

Colette was an only child who dreamed of a big family. She was training as a nurse and loved the operating room and nursery before she stopped her studies to marry.

She never stopped being a caregiver though, and was always there to nurse every person or animal that she saw back to health.

Colette raised her large family and was happiest when she had a baby in her arms. Hers, a grandchild, great grandchild, the neighbour’s or a puppy- she loved all babies. She was a cook, housekeeper, seamstress, hairdresser, teacher and honorary nurse. She was never afraid to tackle a new skill.

Big family dinners and being surrounded by loved ones made her so happy, as did a never- ending stream of crafts and pets. She always kept her mind busy, whether reading prayers or creating handmade gifts and crafts.  Attending church was very important and brought her peace of mind.

The family would like to thank the staff at Anson General Hospital and South Centennial Manor for showering her with kindness while she lived there. It was no secret that she felt cared for and loved by them, something she greatly appreciated, as someone who had spent her life looking after others. This was all the more valuable this past year during the pandemic when family visits were restricted.
