In loving memory of

Mr. Dale Ross Leavens
June 19, 1950 – November 2, 2023

With heavy hearts his family announces his sudden passing at his residence in Cochrane on Thursday November 2, 2023, at the age of 73.

He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Janet Leavens (nee King) of 52 years, his children Chrystal Leavens (Brad Shuttleworth) of Lindsay, ON, Angela Leavens (Michael Berscheid)  of Calgary, AB and Michael Leavens (Tricia Leavens) of London, ON.

Dale was the proud grandfather of Andrew, Charles, and Oliver.

He was the brother of Reva and Doug Leavens.

Dale is predeceased by his parents Maxwell and Violet (nee Kilby) Leavens.

Dale lived in Cochrane from 1973-79 as he was starting his career as a physiotherapist at Lady Minto Hospital. Interested in contributing to this small town, he ran for Mayor, and was a Board member that participated in establishing the Group Homes in Cochrane. The family left Cochrane to pursue other opportunities but returned in 1989. 

In his personal life, Dale was an avid woodworker, gardener, Blue Jays fan, and enjoyed attending a local Book Club.

Dale had a sharp wit and great sense of humour. He kept active through daily walks around Lake Commando with Janet, and would stop to swim in the heat of the summer. Dale was a fervent concert goer. If you were ever at a live music performance with Janet and Dale they would have been the first couple on the dance floor and quite likely the last to leave it.

As per Dale’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral.
