Daniel Kilburn

July 28, 1956 - November 26, 2025

We are saddened to announce the passing of “Bushman Dan” Kilburn on November 26, 2025. Dan had a kind heart, a unique sense of humor, and was generous to everyone. He also had an unwavering faith in God, which enabled him to overcome many obstacles in his life.

In his teens, Dan developed a progressive, degenerative, genetic disease which affected his balance and made life challenging. Despite this, Dan chose to live his life to the full. He purchased property in a remote area near Matheson and accomplished his dream of living in the bush. It was during this time that he received his nickname, Bushman Dan. He had a quick wit and wasn’t above sharing a humorous story about the physical challenges he faced. His faith in God never wavered and, even in the tough times, served the Lord faithfully. He was an active church member and served in several leadership roles. He was dearly loved by his family, church family, and the Matheson community, and will be greatly missed by many.

Dan was predeceased by his father, William Kilburn, his mother, Dorothy Kilburn, his sister, Ann Glendenning, and his brother, Robert Kilburn. He is survived by Ann’s daughters, Sharon and Linda, and their children, James, John, Brett, and Laura.

A memorial service will be held on December 10th, 2025, at 11 am at the Evangel Family Church located at 473 Poplar Road, Matheson, Ontario. It will also be livestreamed.  A light lunch will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to Evangel Family Church (www.evangelmatheson.com) would be appreciated.
