Darrell Blackwell
December 31, 1960 – August 13, 2023

With great sorrow his family announces the passing of Darrell at the Lady Minto Hospital in Cochrane on Sunday August 13, 2023 at the age of 62. He was predeceased by his father Johnny Blackwell.
He will be missed by his mother Loretta (nee Gilmour) Blackwell-Young, his children Elaine Blackwell (George Kydd), Destiny Sutherland, Darrell Blackwell Jr., Dillon Blackwell, stepchildren Leonard Hookimaw, Miranda Hookimaw, Priscilla Blackwell, and his grandchildren Logan, Clark, Wade, Autumn, Adalynn, Dakota, Daniel and Kaydence, Payton along with their mother Hilary Edwards.

Darrell was the brother of Jimmy Blackwell (Jennifer Carey), Carroll Blackwell, Lorrie Cheff, Percy Toal Jr. and Noella Blackwell, mother of his children Dillon, Darrell Jr, Pricilla, Leonard and Miranda. He will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Darrell was the kind of man that would drop whatever he was doing to help someone. He always went above and beyond for those he loved.  He loved drawing and colouring. He loved going for walks or car rides with his little buddy Kiki. He enjoyed being around his grandchildren he loved wood working and enjoyed building benches. He spent a lifetime being a taxi driver and enjoyed meeting new people. Anyone who met Darrell instantly became friends.  He could walk into a room full of strangers and leave with new friends. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know him. 

Relatives and friends are welcome to visit at Irvine & Irvine funeral home, 70 Seventh Ave, South, Cochrane on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 from 6pm to 8pm and also on Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am followed by a few words.

Darrell will be laid to rest at the Birchill Cemetery.
