Dr. Victor Lei, PharmD, age 28, of Black-River Matheson, passed away unexpectedly on March 22nd, 2023. Victor was born on August 26, 1994, to Lek Iao Lei and Jin Juan Chen at Timmins and District Hospital. After Victor graduated from O’Gorman High School in 2012 at the top of his class, he went on to study pharmacy at the University of Waterloo. After completing various co-ops at local pharmacies and hospitals in northern Ontario, he then obtained his Doctor of Pharmacy in 2018. Victor started his full-time job at Iroquois Falls Guardian Pharmacy as a pharmacist, where he happily and tirelessly served the community until his very last day. Victor was a life-long resident of northern Ontario. Victor only left the north to complete his studies in Waterloo but returned to serve the local community at every chance.
An avid gamer, Victor spent his time outside of work playing video games with his friends and brother when he wasn’t studying. He also greatly enjoyed delicious food and could never turn down the home baked goods he was often gifted by the kind locals.
Victor is survived by his father, Lek Iao Lei; his mother, Jin Juan Chen; his older brother, Hong Ji Lei and his partner, Kiana Parkes; and his younger sister, Amy Lei, and her partner Aaron Ward.
Friends and others whose lives Victor touched are invited to pay their respects at Floyd Hembruff Civic Center (Matheson Curling Club) on Tuesday March 28th, 2023 from 11 am followed by Words of Remembrance at 3:30 pm. (Livestreaming for all will be available from 3:30pm). The interment will take place in the spring in his hometown at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Matheson.
