Effie Chedore Obituary

Effie Elizabeth Chedore, born on September 18, 1958, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 28, 2024, at Lady Minto Hospital in Cochrane, Ontario. The beloved daughter of Kent Anderson and Delores Nash, Effie will be remembered for her boundless love, unshakable strength, and, of course, her impeccable sense of humor.

Effie was the wife of Mike Chedore Sr. As a proud mother of four sons—Michael Chedore, Jeffrey Chedore, BJ Chedore, and Andrew Chedore—her family was her greatest joy (and sometimes her biggest challenge). She was the cherished grandmother of Sabrina, Henri, Mackenzie, Ezra, Willow, Elizabeth, Ruby, Jordan, Jaison, Andy, Zephyr, Peyton, Emmersyn, Jaicee, TJ, and Hunter, and the great-grandmother of Matthew. Her love and wisdom shaped countless treasured memories with her grandkids.

Effie is survived by her remaining brother, George Anderson, who, along with her family and friends, will deeply miss her gentle spirit—and her ability to make the best steak and kidney pie in town.

Beyond her family, Effie’s warmth and wit touched everyone who knew her. She enjoyed her girls' nights with the Aubertin Sisters, sharing laughter and creating memories that will last a lifetime. Effie also dedicated her time volunteering with the Legion, library, food bank, and Ininew organizations, demonstrating her commitment to her community and her desire to help others.

Effie had a passion for crafting, particularly for resin art. She also had a knack for finding treasures on Temu, which often led to spirited debates about whether she really needed another set of decorative flamingos. Holidays were her playground, and she celebrated each with enthusiasm, making everything a little more festive—and a lot more fun. Her fondness for carousel horses was a testament to her hoarding tendencies. And let’s not forget her love for Mug Root Beer; it didn’t matter if it was a 2-liter or a 1-liter bottle.

Though Effie is no longer with us, her spirit remains ever-present in the lives she touched. Her legacy of love, laughter, and creativity will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. Effie Elizabeth Chedore will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever. We can already picture her joining in on ghost-hunting adventures with her grandchildren, probably rolling her eyes at their antics while keeping an eye out for friendly spirits—and maybe even challenging them to a dance-off with the ghosts!
