In Loving Memory of
ELSIE (CARON) KENNY
Nov. 13th, 1929 - Mar. 9th, 2026
It is with profound sadness that the family announces her peaceful passing at home at the age of 96.
Elsie was born in Iroquois Falls to Pietro and Aurora (Morandin) Caron, and was predeceased in 1998 by Ted Kenny, her loving husband since 1952. She is survived by her beloved daughter Karen Bleakney (late Paul), step grandchildren Jennifer Jamieson (Mike) and Todd Bleakney, and was the special ‘Nanny K’ of James, Rowan and John Jamieson. Elsie is survived by her brother Rio (late Marianne) and many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by brothers Frank, Leno and Eddie Caron and sisters Lena Naletto, Alma Sandrin, Rita Hukezalie, and Elda Marinigh.
Elsie met Ted in Iroquois Falls, where together they raised their daughter Karen. Being a wife and mother was her greatest joy. She worked for many years in the offices at Abitibi, and following retirement she and Ted spent their winters in Florida. After Ted passed away, she continued to spend many winters in Florida with her sister Elda, also a widowed ‘snowbird’.
Elsie played youth hockey as a goaltender under the coaching skills of her brother Eddie, and was an avid golfer, cross-country skier and curler. She volunteered at local Blood Donor Clinics and the Canadian Cancer Society for many years. Elsie maintained many close friendships and strong family ties and was known for her wisdom, caring and gracious nature, the love she shared, and her laughter.
Cremation has taken place, Visitation will be held on Friday July 31st, 2026 from 10 am followed by the remembrance service at 11:00 am at the Irvine & Irvine Funeral Home. Laura Hutchison officiating.
