Emile Groulx

Emile Groulx
November 18, 1936 – September 9, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Emile Groulx on September 9, 2025 at Lady Minto Hospital in Cochrane at the age of 89.

Emile spent all of his life in Cochrane and worked in the logging industry.

He was an exceptionally hard worker and persevered through many difficult times in the bush. 

He loved the outdoors, enjoyed fishing, and hunting.  

He spent most of his retirement on the farm where he built his and his wife Rejeanne's dream home.  A home built of logs he harvested. He loved the farm and forged endless trails where he enjoyed riding on his tractor, ATV and skidoo.

He was a lifelong learner. He was an avid reader, and had a special interest in history, politics and world events. He loved sharing his knowledge and was a great storyteller. 

He is survived by his children Brigitte Pugliese, (Mario deceased), Monique Desormeau (Glen), and Rachelle Shnaidman (Shimon); his 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; his siblings Jane Gliese (late Helmut), Denise (late Vince), Jeannine (Ray).

He was predeceased by his wife Rejeanne (Bisson), his daughters Kathy Groulx and Lynne Groulx; his parents Gabriel and Marie Ange (nee Ouellette) Groulx and his siblings Russell, Carol, Bob, and Real.

At Emile's request, no service will be held. Donations in memorian can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
