In loving memory of
Mrs. Emily Russell (nee Robinson)
February 8, 1941 – November 8, 2025
With great sorrow we announce the passing of Emily at the Lady Minto Hospital in Cochrane on Saturday November 8th, 2025 at the age of 84. She was the daughter of late Secord Robinson, and late Harriet Robinson. She was the proud mother of Martin (Angela) of Sturgeon Falls, Karen Larsen (Klaus) of Thunder Bay, Trevor (Sylvie) of Kapuskasing, and Kirk (Wendy) of Whitby. Grandmother to Grant, April, Christopher, Jennifer, Matt, Cam, Eden, and Ivy. Great-Grandmother to eleven wonderful, and seriously cute, young people. She was the sister of late Jacqueline Robinson, late Christine (late Michael) Fedechko, late Olive (late Alan) Towsley, late Tommy (late Thea) Robinson, Donald (Arlene) Robinson and late Bertha (late Lionel) Audet. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Emily was happiest in the bush near to blueberry bushes. An avid sports fan, she most recently felt the sorrow of her Blue Jays coming up just short of winning The World Series, and the Leafs always coming up shorter still. An excellent baker and cook in general, many delighted in her offerings of fruitcake, biscuits, and decadent desserts.
Emily was widely known for her joking nature, peppered with more than the occasional profanity, keeping everyone on their toes. She was loved for her good-natured humour and wit, fast at making new friends.
The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ross and the staff at Lady Minto for their dedication to her care, often treating her as though family. We are forever grateful to the many homecare, support workers, and community members who always went well beyond in providing care and company. The family would also like to recognize her Grand-daughter April for her unwavering support for Emily over her last hours. The family has decided to hold a celebration of Emily's life next summer in her favourite spot in the bush beside the best blueberry patch. Here's hoping for a bumper crop next year!
