Mrs. Emma Cheena passed away at the venerable age of 103 surrounded by her loving family at the Villa Minto in Cochrane on Wednesday May 13th, 2026. She was predeceased by her father David Martin, her mother Aileen Wesley, her husband George W. Cheena, her sons John Martin and Isadore Cheena, her 2 granddaughters Loretta Wesley and Deanna (Mark) Cox. Emma was the last surviving of all her 15 siblings.

She was the mother of late John (Florrie) Martin, Evelyn (John) Wesley, Josephine (John Sr.) Mark, late Isadore (Josephine) Cheena, Beulah (late Delbert) Corbiere, Lavuis (late Bertha) Cheena, Harriet (Raymond) Wynne, and Violet (Andrew) Montgomery. She also leaves behind 20 grandchildren, 54 Great Grandchildren and 47 Great Great-grandchildren and greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

The wake will take place at Irvine & Irvine funeral home 70 Seventh Avenue South, Cochrane on Tuesday May 19th, 2026 between 4 and 7 pm.

The final viewing will be held on Wednesday May 20th, 2026 at the Archbishop Anderson Memorial Anglican Church, 150, 6th, Avenue, Cochrane from 11 am the funeral service will begin at 12:30 pm and the interment will follow at the Cochrane Civic Cemetery beside her husband George W. Cheena who was buried in May 2012.
