In Loving Memory of

George Wallace Parent

April 1st, 1958, to January 25th, 2026

With heavy hearts, George’s family announces his passing surrounded by his loved ones at the Anson General Hospital in Iroquois falls on Sunday January 25th, 2026, at the age of 67. He was the son of late Romeo and late Blanche Parent (nee Phillips). He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Linda Parent (nee Sibley), his sons Ron (Jen) Parent, Terry (Chantale) Purdy, his daughters Victoria (Patrick) Whelan, Melissa (Bill) Purdy, Patricia Purdy and Nikki Swiminer.

He was known to all the above as “Papa George.”

He was the brother of Denise (Jean) Parent, Roger (late Laura) Parent, Gisele (Raymond) Forget, late Gerry Parent, late Jacques (Lucy) Parent, late Ann (Ross) Hill, Claire Parent and Dennis (Suzette) Parent, (late) Jean-Guy(Linda) Parent.

He will also be missed by many grandchildren great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and long-time friends.

George was best known for owning and operating G&L taxi. His kindness, dedication and generosity touched countless lives. He was known for a warm smile, a listening ear, and a genuine care for every passenger. He went above and beyond assisting seniors, comforting those having difficult days and treating every passenger with patience, respect and compassion. His vehicle was a place of conversation, laughter and comfort. He always had a good joke to share. George was more than a driver; he was a friend, a helper and a steady presence within the community.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Anne's RC Church on Wednesday January 28th, 2026 at 11:15am

 Donations in George's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
