In Loving Memory of
Mrs. Gisèle Florence Vermette
1930-2023
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and aunt, Gisèle Vermette (née Lortie). Born on October 27th, 1930, she slipped away peacefully at the age of 92 on June 17th, 2023.
She was predeceased by her husband Gerald (Red) in 1998 as well as her parents Adelbert and Florence, and her siblings, Rémi, Henri, Henriette and Arsène (Lefty). She is survived by her daughters Hélène McCready (Ian) of Timmins, Micheline Hanson (Tim) of Campbell River BC, as well as a very special third daughter, Dorian Denault (Norm), of Iroquois Falls. Also left to mourn her passing are her grandchildren Seth Hanson (Lise) of Neguac NB, Jordan Hanson (Kiani) of Victoria BC, Lynn McCready-Fortin (Marc), Lisa Edwards (Tim) and great-granddaughters Olivia and Ava Edwards, all of Timmins. She held a special place in the hearts of her nephews Ricci Burton (Franceline), Mike Burton (Linda), Wayne Lortie (Nancy) and Linda Dugas (Serge), as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Mom, also referred to as Madame Verm by many, led a long, healthy independent life. She was happiest surrounded by those she loved, but never happier than when she was in the presence of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the light of her life. For the past three years, her home was the South Centennial Manor, which she affectionately called her “Resort”.
As per her request there will be no visitation or service.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the South Centennial Manor Redevelopment Fund would be greatly appreciated.
Losing her was inevitable and being prepared for it impossible. We will cherish our memories as these will help us through these difficult times.
