Hazel Lambert Obituary

Lambert, Hazel Edna – 84 years, on Saturday, January 17, 2026.

Hazel passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, surrounded by her loving family.

Her beloved husband Normand is predeceased. Hazel was the last surviving member of her many siblings and of her husband’s siblings, defying all odds in her own fight against kidney disease for the last sixteen years of her life. Hazel was most proud of her three children: Curtis Lambert, Peggy Coleman (Brian), and Brent Lambert (Darlene) to whom she remained the matriarch and mother to for her entire life. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Melissa, Alexandria, Cassandra, Taylor, Kristina, Cindy, Evelyn, Sarah, and Matthew. Her little pet, Murphy, was eagerly re-homed.

A devoted Christian for many years, Hazel left a legacy of her creative skills. Sewing, quilting, baking, gardening, constructing, and paying attention to the details were her most obvious gifts. She made puppets for the chapel, and she gave numerous quilts to various individuals and organizations, leaving her indelible stamp on each creation in her own unique way, as well as with those who received her gifts. She had many other talents, but it was her loving admonitions and her amazing hugs that dignified the woman inside.

She was sharp, loving, incredibly funny, and she had an eye for colour. She taught herself to play piano after the age of 40, grew every type of garlic from around the world, created culinary delights from thin air, remembered everyone’s birthday, and one would think that she earned her amazing green thumb in the Gardens of Narnia. She never wasted any time; every minute was used wisely. Her favourite poem/hymn in the Holy Bible was Psalm 116, and for good reason.

She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed.

A celebration of life service will be held at Iroquois Falls Bible Chapel with the Internment at Kelso Goldlands Cemetery held later in the spring.
