Jeannine Goodwin (nee Lemieux) Obituary

In loving memory of

Jeannine Goodwin (nee Lemieux)

July 8, 1929 – December 12, 2021

Jeannine Goodwin passed away on December 12th, 2021 at the North Bay Regional Health Center. Jeannine was a long-time resident of Cochrane, Ontario. She moved to North Bay in 2002 to be closer to family.  Jeannine retired as the Deputy Land Registrar for Cochrane District in 1989. She was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 89, Ladies Auxiliary from 1957 to 2021.

Jeannine was a loving mother to Daniel, supportive mother-in-law to Sharon, and a wonderful grandmother to the Goodwin children. Growing up the Goodwin children have fond memories of summertime weeklong visits to Grama’s house in Cochrane; picking their own special cereal, visiting the train museum, going to the playgrounds, feeding the swans, picking up Kentucky Fried Chicken on their own and eating favorite dishes like ragu, jelly roll and cookies. After moving to North Bay, she became the proud great grama to Abigail, Amelia and Hunter. She was an avid knitter and she knit many sweaters, mitts and hats for her family and various community groups. A memorable activity when Dan and Sharon visited BC was to have the girls (Abigail and Amelia) open the knitting gifts and try them on. Many photos were taken and sent to great grama. Hunter benefited from cookie and candy deliveries on each Sunday dinner get together at the Goodwin household.

Jeannine is survived by her son Daniel Goodwin, wife Sharon Goodwin and their four children Kyle Goodwin and Chantelle Johnston, their daughters Abigail and Amelia from Burnaby, BC; Colin Goodwin and Anneliis Tosine from Ottawa, ON; Meagan Goodwin and Chris Bird, and son Hunter Goodwin from North Bay, ON; Scott Goodwin and Sam Melo, from Baysville, ON. She is survived by her brother John Lemieux of Toronto and predeceased by her parents Joseph and Flora Lemieux, brother Romuald and sister Teresa Fry.

Many thanks for the care she received from the staff at the Empire Living Center over a ten-year period and more recently from HCCSS, Paramed Home Health (special thanks to Maya), and the VON nurses. Thank you to the North Bay Regional Health Centre, Dr. Brian Shaw and Dr. Michael Leckie for the compassionate care she received in her final days.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to the North Bay Regional Health Center or to the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) and would be greatly appreciated.

As per her wishes there will not be any visitation or funeral services and the burial at the Cochrane Roman Catholic Cemetery in the spring of 2022.
