Judy Lafrance (nee Cybolsky) Obituary

In Loving Memory of

Judy Lafrance (nee Cybolsky)

June 18, 1957 – July 25, 2025

With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Judy on Friday July 25th, 2025 at the age of 68, surrounded by the love she so freely gave throughout her life.

Born on June 18, 1957 in Iroquois Falls, Judy was a truly special soul. Full of warmth, creativity, compassion, and a wonderfully silly spirit that brought joy to everyone who knew her. She was the daughter of the late Clifford Cybolsky and the late Laura Cybolsky (nee Hamilton).

In her husband Albert Lafrance’s words, “she was the best wife he ever had”. Judy was also a devoted, loving mother to her daughter Ashley Bergounhon (Jason Van Luven) and a proud adoring grandmother to Anna Van Luven. Every day, Bert and Ashley surrounded her with care, love, and constant presence, never left alone.

Judy is survived by Carol Lafrance (Sweezey), sista Sue Lafrance (Bill Staples), Guy Lafrance, Bob Lafrance, Kim Frank (Andrew Frank), Kelly Frank (Dave Girard), cherished nieces and nephews, best friends Stanley Bondar and Carole Tessier who made her laugh until the end. Judy also had many extended family and friends whose lives were made brighter because of her.

She had a gift for making people smile. Not with jokes or grand performances, but with her natural silliness, her playful energy, and her love of just being fun. Whether it was dressing up in a ridiculous costume, pulling a harmless prank, or crafting something goofy just to get a laugh, she had a way of turning ordinary moments into something joyful. She loved to be silly and in doing so, she reminded us all not to take life too seriously.

But behind the laughter was a deeply caring and generous heart. Judy was a devoted caregiver. Not just to her family, but to many others. She sat at bedsides, held hands in hospital rooms, and walked with people through their most difficult moments. She brought comfort, steadiness, and peace to those facing illness or the end of life. Her presence was quiet but powerful, and she gave her care freely and without hesitation.

She was also an incredible cook. Her cabbage rolls were legendary, and her homemade pickles? Unmatched. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and welcome, filled with the kind of food and love that brought people together. Feeding others was one of her most natural ways of showing care.

Later in life, she faced many serious health challenges. When neuropathy took away the use of her hands. The hands that had done so much, given so much. It was a devastating loss. She fell into a deep depression, something she carried with quiet strength. But even in the midst of that pain, her spirit never fully dimmed. She held onto her playfulness, her laughter, and her love for others right to the end.

She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, silliness, and deep, unwavering love. She taught us how to care for others, how to show up in difficult moments, and how to find joy in the little things, even when life is hard.

A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday August 6, 2025 at 6 pm at the Iroquois Falls Legion Hall.
