Leny van Ballegooie

August 18, 1937 – June 15, 2021

Leny van Ballegooie (nee Kruithof), 83, of Cochrane, Ontario peacefully passed, surrounded by family on June 15th. She is predeceased by her husband Aart van Ballegooie (1992) and leaves behind her beloved children, Peter (Sue) van Ballegooie, Joanne van Ballegooie (Douglas Gold) and Marlene van Ballegooie (Paul Demaiter), her grandchildren, Alex, Courtney, Ryan, Jenna and Jacob. She is also survived by her siblings, John Kruithof (wife Kawsar), Ottawa, Hans Kruithof, Sudbury, Harry Kruithof (wife Nina), Cochrane, Garry Kruithof (wife Dianne), Larder Lake, Cora Brown, Kapuskasing, and Willy Kruithof (predeceased).

She was born in Heerjansdam, The Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1951. Leny and Aart spent their lives on the farm in Clute, but in retirement her creativity shone through her intricate needlepoint. Lasting treasures for her children, family and friends. Never to sit still very long, she was often seen walking around town getting in her daily exercise. She will always be remembered as a strong, independent woman who enjoyed the simple things in life.

A private, grave-side service will be held on June 18, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Civic Cemetery, Golf Course Rd, Cochrane, Ontario. Memorial donations can be made to the Cochrane Food Bank in her name.
