September 13, 1946 – July 8, 2025
The family sadly announces the sudden passing of Lori Morris at her home on July 8, 2025.
She leaves behind her son Sean. She was predeceased by her husband Dave in 2001. She was predeceased by brother Robert Wilkes and sister Dianne Wilkes. She leaves behind sister Patti Dennis (Bob) and brother John Wilkes (Caroline) , brother in law Julian (Pat) and several nieces and nephews.
Lori was born, educated and worked in Iroquois Falls. Participating in many sports, she was also a qualified swimming pool lifeguard and swimming instructor/examiner. After Lori graduated from Iroquois Falls High School she worked for Abitibi Paper.
She married Dave in 1970 and shortly after they bought and operated the Stanley Hotel in Matheson. Lori continued to operate the business for 5 more years after Dave’s passing.
The hotel was the favorite meet and greet place for many people for many years until it closed in 2005. There was a local understanding that if any customer was being impolite or disorderly toward Lori, the whole bar backed and defended her. This was a show of love and respect for this lady. Lori was a warm, kind and generous woman. She was a beautiful quilter and gifted many baby blankets and quilts. Those will be treasured by family and friends.
Lori had many lifelong friends.
Lori enjoyed mud bogging, golfing, camping at Watabeag Lake, big campfires and music especially Bon Jovi.
She was an avid fan and enjoyed watching curling tournaments.
Lori experienced some health challenges and injuries in her life. She faced each of them with a positive attitude and determination. She conquered many of her challenges.
Known for her kindness, sense of humour and a warm smile, Lori had a way of making everyone feel welcome. She lived with purpose and grace, always putting others first.
She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, faith and family will continue to live on in all who had the honor of knowing her.
