In Loving Memory of
Lorian Gélinas
March 1, 1953 - May 4, 2024
It is with deep sorrow the family announces the peaceful passing of Lorian Gélinas (Lory) at his home, listening to his idol ''Tony Rice" on vinyl from his collection on Saturday, May 4th, 2024 at the age of 71 years. Loving Father of Chantal, Richard, and Marc (Megan). Cherished grand father of Kassidy Marie Tremblay (Jessie), Taylor Gélinas, Emily Johnson, and Aidan Gélinas (Amelia). He cherished the mother of his children and dear friend, Suzanne. Survived by his brother Roger (Denise), Rosaire (Clementine), Gérard (Laura), and sisters-in-law Sylvianne, Bernadette, Suzette Mailloux (Gil) and predeceased by brother-in-law Denis LaDouceur.
Also predeceased by his brothers and his sister and sister-in-laws Aimé Gélinas (Jacqueline), Ronald Gélinas (first wife Jeannette) Noella (Raymond Moreau), Yvon Gélinas and by his parents Joséphat Gélinas and Lucienne Allarie.
Lory will be missed by numerous aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Anyone that had the opportunity to know Lory will always remember his gentle soul and abundance of love to give. He was as funny as he was kind. His knowledge in the electrical field brought recognition and opportunities in his career, and The Crane at Abitibi was his challenge, prior to his retirement. Even after his retirement he continued to further his electrical knowledge. He protected wildlife on his property where he handcrafted, designed and built his home where they raised their children. Lory enjoyed many fishing, cottage and bush adventures with family, friends, and a cold molson.
Lory had a deep rooted love for bluegrass, playing his guitar and various other instruments. He held countless jam sessions, and told stories of memorable River Valley trips. He had patience to teach his children and grandchildren guitar and anyone that wanted to learn, which carried into the hearts of his family and friends. Lory could captivate an audience with his guitar when he decided to, but he preferred to be humble and teach his skills rather than boast.
As per his wishes, Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation and funeral service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. His ashes will be buried with his parents at the Timmins Memorial Cemetery.
