Mr. Michael James (Jim) Bonnah

June 24, 1933 – August 25, 2023

With heavy hearts his family announces his peaceful passing at home surrounded by his family on Friday August 25, 2023 at the age of 90.

He will be greatly missed by his children Carol Ann (Roger) Goulet, Mary (Keith) Cooke, Michael (Donna), Donald (Bev Fraser), Wayne (Yvonne), James (Sylvie), Nancy (Paul) Presseault, his grandchildren Trisha (Joey Linklater), Renee (Marc Farmer), Jennifer (Melissa Foy), Sean (Krista Cooke), Parker, Meghan, Morgan (Shannon Shepherdson), Tyler (Maranda), Brandon, Nickolas, Jesse (Cassy), Michelle (Cyprien), Brock (Dawn), Riley, Marja, Michaela, and his 15 great grandchildren Dawson, Blake, Joshua, Austin, Matti, Gracie, Kristopher, Hayse, Niko, Griffin, Reed, Smith, Gillan, Finn and Zoey.  He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Predeceased by his wife Lempi Marja (Willing), his parents Michael and Clara (Brough), his siblings Jack, Don and Tom, and his daughter in law Laura.

Jim cherished his family.  He had a love for playing and watching sports over the years especially hockey and baseball.  In his later years, he spent his time at the golf course and curling club. He enjoyed his time outdoors, at the cottage and in the garden. He had fond memories of his years at the Department of Highways and shared many stories with us over the years. 

Relatives and friends are welcome to visit at Irvine & Irvine Funeral Home, 70 Seventh Avenue South, Cochrane on Monday August 28, 2023 from 11 am to 1pm and the Chapel Service will follow at 1 pm at the funeral home, followed by a reception at the legion. He will be laid to rest beside his wife at the Cochrane Civic Cemetery at a later date.
