Milton Jaworski Obituary

Milton Jaworski

October 13, 1935 – November 3, 2025

Milton Jaworski passed away peacefully, at the age of 90, in the early morning of November 3, 2025 at Anson General Hospital surrounded by the love of his family.

Beloved husband of Arlene Jaworski for 55 years, Milton was a devoted dad to Dawn (Brad) George and Antony (Claudia) Jaworski and beloved Papa of his grandchildren Xander and Kendra.  He is also survived by his siblings Nancy (late Narceso) Marcaccini and Josy (late John) Mongeon, and many nieces and nephews, holding a special place in his heart for his nieces Trina Mongeon and Linda (Guy) Gaboury.  He is predeceased by brother Joe (Germaine) and sister Jenny.

Milt was born in Ansonville; growing up he excelled in many high school sports including broomball, basketball, and track & field.  From 1950-53, Milton held the I.F.H.S. junior, intermediate, and senior boys track and field champion, running the 100-yard dash in 10.2 seconds.

Throughout his life, Milt believed in community.  For 66 years he was a proud lifetime member of the Lions Club International, serving in various leadership roles, including three terms as Club President, chairman of Diabetes and lead of CNIB, raising funds for numerous eyesight programs.

He worked at Abitibi for 38 years and was a dedicated union member. From 1970 to 1979, he was President of Local 109 Papermakers Union. He was a tough but fair negotiator and led three strikes to achieve fair benefits and solidarity for union members.

In the early 90s, Milt served as a member of the Iroquois Falls Town Council and assisted in provocative initiatives like banning smoking from the arena complex.  He also served on the Local Cemetery and Hospital Boards.

He will be remembered as a loving family man, a lover of the outdoors, and a master kielbasa and sausage maker – a skill that he brought (along with full bellies) to many family gatherings.

Those who knew Milt will recall his warmth, his honesty, and his subtle, understated sense of humour.  His legacy lives on in the lives of those he touched and the traditions he passed down. “When your troubles are plentiful and your rewards are few, remember the mighty oak was once a nut too.”

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the staff at Anson General Hospital.
