Myrande ''Mimi'' Tremblay Obituary

In loving memory of

Myrande “Mimi” Tremblay

 “Whispering Birch”

Sunrise January 7, 1955

Sunset December 22, 2025

With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Myrande “Mimi” Tremblay, who made her journey to the spirit world on December 22, 2026, surrounded by love.

Born on January 7, 1955, at Lowbush River, Mimi was the biological daughter of Ana Singer and Edward Babin, and the adopted daughter of Jeanne D’Arc and Eugene Tremblay.

Mimi was a deeply loving mother to Ana-Maria Tremblay, a grandmother to Kara, Aaron, and Chelsea Tremblay,  a cherished great-grandmother to Willow, Sequoia, and Briana Tremblay and beloved partner of Jimmy McKenzie.

She was a sister to many as well, an auntie and great-auntie to many whom she absolutely loved and adored. Mimi was also a foster mother to many children, and she was immensely proud of them — loving and supporting them as if they were her own.

Mimi was a proud and enthusiastic Elder who resided in her home community of Wahgoshig First Nation (now Apitipi Anicinapek Nation). She held a special place in her heart for youth and made life fun for every child who crossed her path. Her home was filled with laughter, care, and a sense of belonging, and her impact on the lives of the children she nurtured will never be forgotten.

She lived a life full of resilience, laughter, and unapologetic spirit. Through all that life placed in her path, she remained fiercely herself — strong, funny, competitive, and deeply connected to the land.

Mimi was a true bush woman who loved the outdoors with her whole heart. She found peace and joy trapping, picking blueberries, and spending time in the bush — always managing to find the biggest berries and the best spots. The land was her home, and it shaped who she was.

She loved animals dearly and kept many pets over the years, including her beloved chihuahua Baby, who even had matching dyed hair with Mimi. She also loved growing flowers and feeding the many birds that visited her home.

Mimi was a legendary dart player, known for her competitiveness and love of the game. She enjoyed a good challenge, loved to socialize, and had a knack for winning — especially when it came to her gambling endeavours, which she took great pride in and laughed about often.

She was truly everyone’s friend — a woman who never judged, always supported, and encouraged those around her. Her laugh and smile could light up any room, and her sense of humour was wild, quick-witted, and unforgettable. She was social, sharp, mischievous, and full of stories — a presence that made people feel welcome and seen.

Above all else, Mimi was love. She was a mother, grandmother, protector, teacher, harvester, community elder, and a safe place. She raised, supported, and stood by her loved ones in ways that shaped generations, leaving behind a legacy of strength, loyalty, and deep connection.

Mimi is now reunited with loved ones who went before her, and we take comfort in knowing she is free — free from pain, free from limits, and free to roam in the ways she loved most.

Mimi was one of a kind.

A force.

A legend.

She will be loved, remembered, and missed forever.

Miigwetch, Mimi, for everything.
