Norman Harper Obituary

In loving memory

Mr. Norman (Rheo) Harper

September 4, 1944 - June 2, 2025

It is with great sorrow that the family announces his passing on Monday, June 2, 2025, at Lady Minto Hospital after a brief illness.

Rheo took great pride in his family and found joy in the lives and accomplishments of his children: Todd Harper of Ottawa; Tracey Harper-Wilson and son-in-law John Wilson; Jasen Harper and daughter-in-law Shauna Harper; Jodi (Harper) Simpson and son-in-law Shawn Adamsson of London, Ontario; Megan Harper and Scott Godin of Blenheim, Ontario; and Kaitland Harper of Kelowna, BC. He was a proud grandfather to Dylan Driver, Rhiannon Wilson, McKenna and Mitchell Harper. He was also known as “Uncle Rheo” to many nieces and nephews.

Rheo was predeceased by his parents, Allan Roy Harper (1951) and Josephine Lajoie (1991); his brothers George and Gerald Rhodes, Eugene and Roy Harper; his sisters Marjorie Allaire, Helen (Harper) Arbour, Helen (Rhodes) Gauthier, Ella May Johnson, Marie Tverdal, and Bernadette (“Bernie”) Mitchell.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to his dear friends Pauline Labelle, Aurel Dupuis, Danny Landry, Ann Shea, and Fred Dixon. We are also grateful for the friendship and the companionship he shared with Helen Phippen and all his fellow residents at Cadence Retirement Home.

A sincere thank you to the care team at Lady Minto Hospital and to Esther Bell, whose kindness and support brought comfort to both Rheo and his family in his final days.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no formal service. He will be cremated and lovingly laid to rest alongside his mother and father in Matheson, Ontario.
