R. Owen Moore Obituary

The family of Owen is saddened to announce his passing on Wednesday October 9, 2024, at the Smooth Rock Falls Hospital surrounded by loved ones at the age of 78.
Owen is survived by his 3 children Tracy (Eric) Cave of Cochrane, Dave (Angele) Moore of Smooth Rock Falls, Colin (Michele) Moore of Kapuskasing. His grandchildren Micheal, Darren (Ashley), Alison (Tyler), Benjamin Owen, Skyler, Jaden, Avery, Dyllon, Adele (Kyle), Roxanne (Eric), his great children Carter, Caleb, Olivia, Jordyn, Alexi and Avrielle, his brother Peter Moore and sisters Margaret Moore, Janet Boucher, Dianne Cornect (Randy), Kathy Moore and Jody Loiselle (Richard) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Owen was predeceased By his Beautiful wife and love of his life Evelyn, mother Florence Moore (nee Gauthier), father Keith Moore, infant daughter, infant brother David Moore, sister Lavinia Blanchette, sister in law Violet Moore, and brother in laws Danny Blanchette and Robert (Coco) Boucher .
Owen was born on May 24,1946 in Cochrane Ontario the eldest of 9 children. After high school Owen worked in telecommunications starting with NorthernTel and then transferring to Bell. His lengthy career brought him to live in Toronto then western Canada installing phone lines into remote areas of the North West. After retirement in 1995 Owen kept busy with a sawmill, working on Lake of The Woods and driving taxi before finally moving back North to Smooth Rock Falls.
Owen enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, fishing, hunting, cooking and playing backgammon or doing crosswords with his beloved Evelyn. His favourite place was sitting in his chair at the end of the table watching golf or hockey or just simply reading his favourite author Louis L’Amour. His pride and joy were his children and grandchildren.
Owen had one of the sharpest minds and memory and could recount dates to anyone who questioned an event. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend and loved telling stories to the generations that came after him. Owen was a kind soul and excellent storyteller who was regarded as head of the family and will truly be missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to sit and converse with him.
May he rest in peace.
As per Owen’s wishes, a private celebration of life will take place at a later date.
