Le 2 mai 2022 à Smooth Rock Falls, est décédée à l’âge de 75 ans Rachel Béchard-Rochon, épouse de Guy Rochon, après une courte bataille contre le cancer, entourée des gens qu’elle aime.

Bien qu’elle ait toujours aimé travailler dans l’ombre, elle était d’une aide sans faille dans tous les projets bénévoles de son époux. À Sainte-Catherine, au Québec, elle a été la Laure-Ange du journal mensuel du conseil de Chevaliers-de-Colomb, journal qu’elle a aidé à publier. Elle a aussi œuvré à la collecte de denrées alimentaires tant dans cette ville qu’à Smooth Rock Falls, pour aider les plus démunis.

Elle était une mère présente et aimante pour ses filles Mona (Marc-André) et Angèle (Jean-Marc), de même qu’une grand-mère attentionnée pour ses petits-fils Nicolas (Stacey), Mickaël, Alexandre et Cédric, ainsi que pour son arrière-petite-fille Elizabeth-Anne.

Outre sa famille proche, Rachel laisse dans le deuil ses frères Pierre (Carole) et Yvan (Maryse), sa sœur Suzanne (feu Emilio) ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces.

La famille souhaite remercier le Dr. Lebel, de même que le personnel de l’hôpital de Smooth Rock Falls, les infirmières du Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) ainsi que le personnel du RLISS pour la qualité des soins donnés.

Une cérémonie de célébration de vie aura lieu ultérieurement. Plutôt que des fleurs, un don à la Fondation de l’hôpital de Smooth Rock Falls serait apprécié.

On May 2, 2022 in Smooth Rock Falls, Rachel Béchard-Rochon, wife of Guy Rochon, passed away at the age of 75, after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by the people she loved.

Although she always enjoyed working behind the scenes, she was a tireless helper in all of her husband's volunteer projects. In Sainte-Catherine, Quebec, she was the Laure-Ange of the monthly Knights of Columbus Council newspaper, which she helped to publish. She was also involved in the food drive in both that city and Smooth Rock Falls to help the less fortunate.

She was a loving mother to her daughters Mona (Marc-André) and Angèle (Jean-Marc), and a caring grandmother to her grandsons Nicolas (Stacey), Mickaël, Alexandre and Cédric, as well as to her great-granddaughter Elizabeth-Anne.

In addition to her immediate family, Rachel is survived by her brothers Pierre (Carole) and Yvan (Maryse), her sister Suzanne (Emilio, deceased) as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Lebel, as well as the Smooth Rock Falls Hospital staff, the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) and the LHIN staff for the quality of care provided.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Smooth Rock Falls Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
