Raoul "Ralph" Girard

It is with the most heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our cherished Pops, Ralph, who left us so unexpectedly on December 2nd at the age of 67. A devoted father, proud grandfather, loving and cherished soulmate, and a truly loyal friend, Ralph touched the lives of everyone who knew him with his warmth, generosity, and selfless love.

Above all, Ralph was a family man. He was the kind of father who always put his children’s needs first, offering unwavering support and encouragement through every stage of their lives. His pride in his children was immeasurable, and he found true joy in their successes, big and small. But nothing brought him more joy than being a grandfather.

As "Pops," Ralph was the heart and soul of his grandchildren’s lives. Whether it was telling them stories, teaching them the little things, or simply spending time with them, he made each of his grandchildren feel like they were the most important person in the world. He celebrated every milestone with the same excitement and love that he gave to his own children. The laughter, hugs, and memories shared with his grandchildren will forever be a part of their lives. His legacy lives on in them, and they will carry forward the lessons of kindness and love that he gave so freely.

At the core of Ralph's life was his beloved wife, Liette, the love of his life and his soulmate. Together, they shared a partnership built on deep love, respect, and laughter. They were each other's greatest adventure—traveling near and far, creating beautiful memories, and enjoying the peaceful days spent together in their camper. There, in their quiet moments, their bond was ever strong, a reminder of the love that guided everything he did.

Ralph had a gift for making everyone feel valued. His genuine interest in others, his infectious smile that always reached his eyes, and his selfless nature meant that anyone who met him became a lifelong friend. He was always there to lend a hand, offer a word of advice, or simply listen. He was a rock for his family, a constant presence whose love and warmth knew no bounds.

He was the son of the late Roger Girard and the late Nina Girard (née Chabot), and the son-in-law of the late Edgar and Lucille (née Perron). He leaves behind the love of his life, Liette; his children, Kelly (Dan) Demers and Trevor (Kim) Girard; and his adored grandchildren, Jackson, Tessa, Quinn, and Cameron, who were the lights of his life. 

He will also be deeply missed by his siblings, Michel (the late Cathy) Girard, Linda (Cal) Cozac, and Angel (Dan) Forget; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Lise (the late Dave) Kosloski, Claire (Frank) Prior, Yves (Sharon) Girard, the late Gaëtan Girard, and the late Marc (Coco) Girard; as well as his wonderful nieces and nephews, and the countless extended family members, friends, and customers who were touched by his kindness, humour, and love.

As per Dad’s wishes, there will be no visitation or formal service at this time. A celebration of his life, in true Ralph fashion, will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers or food, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Lady Minto Hospital Foundation or the Cochrane Food Bank, both of which would be greatly appreciated.
