Sonia Zaverucha (nee Kolomeitz)

April 17, 1934 – May 1, 2022

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Sonia on Sunday May 1st, 2022 at the Lady Minto Hospital in Cochrane at the age of 88.

She will be deeply missed by her children Jack, Janet (Michael Groulx Sr.), Norman (Linda), Edward, Dennis (Helen), her grandchildren Kory Groulx (Nichole), Michael Jr. (Sara) Groulx and Copper her much loved furry companion. She is also survived by her sister Mary (Raymond) Therriault and her brother Phillip (Elaine) Kolomeitz and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Paul in 1994, her parents Anthony and Rose Kolomeitz, her brothers and sisters Peter, Pearl, Elsie, Michael and her daughter-in-law Leona.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. James Ross for the many years of compassion and excellent care. Also thanks to Dr. Parsons and all of the Lady Minto staff for their excellent care as well over the past two months. It is much appreciated.

Family and Friends are welcome to visit on Friday May 6th 2022 from 11 am to 12:30 at the Irvine & Irvine Funeral home, 70 Seventh Avenue South, Cochrane, followed by the funeral service at 1 pm at the Holy Trinity Archbishop Anglican Church in Cochrane with Reverend Edith Belair officiating. The Interment will take place at the Cochrane Civic Cemetery at a later date.
