In Loving Memory
Verlyn Joseph
April 12, 1941 - November 8, 2024
With deep and profound sadness, the family announces the peaceful passing of Mrs. Verlyn Joseph formerly of Matheson, on Friday November 8, 2024 at the Temiskaming Lodge in New Liskeard.
Verlyn was the youngest daughter of Saida (nee Brown) Luce and William Luce. She was born and raised in the London area. Verlyn moved to the Matheson area in her early 20's where she met and married her husband late Gordon Joseph (who passed August 14, 2024). They married in October 1964. Verlyn loved to travel and experience new adventures. She was involved with the St. Andrew's United Church in Matheson for many years. Her faith was very important to her. Verlyn's door was always open and if she knew someone would be alone for a holiday, they were always invited to enjoy a big dinner that she would prepare (it was no surprise to see a full table at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas). Verlyn enjoyed knitting, sewing, quilting or trying new crafts.
Verlyn leaves behind her five children Ken (JoAnn), Frank (Penny), Larry, Joanne (Brian), and Theresa (John-David). She is the cherished grandmother of Crystal (Gary), Ashley (Tyler), William, Lucy and Emma; her great-grandchildren Hannah, Carter and Theo. Verlyn is also survived by her sister-in-law Norma, her brother-in-law Tom, her good friend Annie (who would always make sure to visit when she was in Ontario) and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Verlyn is predeceased by her parents, by her husband Gordon and by her sister Lorna.
The family of the late Verlyn Joseph invite relatives and friends to the Matheson Family Lodge [376 Second Street, Matheson, ON] on November 22, 2024 at 11:00am for a Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers contributions to St. Andrew's United Church [P.O. Box 59 Matheson, ON P0K 1N0] will be gratefully acknowledged. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Buffam Leveille Funeral Home, Temiskaming Shores, ON. Condolences and tributes can be left at www.buffamleveille.com
