William James “Bill” Barry
May 25, 1935 – March 7, 2026
With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce his peaceful passing surrounded by his loved ones. He will be deeply missed by his wife Dorothy and his daughter Kimberley and his stepsons Jeff (Janice) and Andre. He will be fondly remembered and loved by his grandchildren Aaron (Jenn), Adam (Jennifer), Angela (Kyle), Hailey (Keaton), Noah, Brook, and Merissa. “Gramps” will forever be remembered by his great grandchildren Billie, Marshall, Mikenah, Reesah, Hope, Faith, and William. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews that will cherish their memories of Uncle Bill, Poppa.
He was predeceased by his parents Leo James Barry and Edith Barry (nee Livingstone), his first wife Mary Lou (Smith) and brothers Bert (Pat), Bruce, twin brother Bob (Arlene), son-in-law Reg. He grew up in our own Twin Falls in early 1930’s before moving into the Town of Iroquois Falls and in his early teens began his first job as a paper maker at Abitibi Pulp and Paper Mill where he proudly worked till the age of 55. He laid down roots in the Town of Iroquois Falls, building his home and starting a family. Little did he know his daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren would grow up and remain here, tied to this little town for years to come. He loved spending time at his camp where he enjoyed fishing, trapping, hunting and gathering together with friends and family. He was a member of K-40 Club for many years and was a legendary, original “River Rat”. His name will forever echo in the ripples of the muddy water on Abitibi River, Mistango, Edwards and Wesley Creek. He will be missed by his stories, jokes, sarcasm and his smile.
He may be gone by our side, but his wit and warmth will live on in our memories we shared and gave us all.
The family would like to thank the staff and workers at Anson General Hospital for their caring attention and support.
If desired, memorial donations can be made to Anson General Hospital (Hospice Unit) or to the South Centennial Manor (Redevelopment Project) would be greatly appreciated.
The memorial service followed by the interment will take place in Iroquois Falls later in the spring, a notice will be posted.
