In loving memory of
William “Billy” Porter
December 13, 1960 – September 14, 2025
It is with heavy hearts, that the family of Billy announces his passing, with his loved ones by his side, on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the Lady Minto Hospital, at the age of 64. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 41 years, Tracey (née St-Pierre), his children Chad (Paige) Porter of Cochrane and Megan (Adam) Lariviere of Pembroke, and his cherished grandchildren Evan, Kara, Lilly, and one eagerly anticipated grandchild on the way.
Billy was the brother of Edward Porter of Chapleau, Martha Greatrex of Ottawa, Terry Demers (Jim) of Waubaushene, Larry (late Huguette) Porter, late Ricky (Shelly) Cline of Cochrane, Brian (Diane) Porter of Cochrane, Patsy (Thomas) Mance of Pittsburgh, PA, Denis (Lucy) Porter of Cochrane, Greg Porter of Cochrane and Christine (Doug) Crawford of Cochrane. He will also be fondly remembered by sister in law Marlene St.Pierre of Cochrane and late brother in law Randy St.Pierre, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and a close circle of lifelong friends including Rob, Paul, Rodger, Walter, Frank, Jim, Fil, and Jeremy.
He was predeceased by his parents Donald and Violet (nee Cline) Porter and his mother in law Marry and father in law Leo St.Pierre.
Billy was a devoted husband, cherished family member, loyal friend, and a pillar of the community.
For over 30 years, Billy served as a dedicated volunteer firefighter, always answering the call to help others with courage, selflessness, and quiet strength. He also worked proudly with the Ministry of Natural Resources, where his deep respect for nature and stewardship of the land touched many lives.
Beyond his professional and volunteer commitments, Billy was known for his love of music — especially singing and playing guitar during gatherings with family and friends. Those moments, filled with laughter, song, and storytelling, will be treasured by all who shared them.
Some of Billy’s most cherished times were spent at the family camp on the Frederick House River. Whether fishing, relaxing by the water, or simply enjoying the peace of the outdoors, the river was his haven.
Billy will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering dedication to community, and the joy he brought to those around him.
A Celebration of his life will be held at the Transfiguration church hall, 201 5th St, Cochrane, ON, on Saturday, September 20, 2025 starting at 11am.
If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Lady Minto Hospital – Cancer Centre and would be greatly appreciated. If you wish to send online condolences to his family or to share your memories of Billy, please visit www.irvineandirvinefuneralhome.com
