Jamie Rheault

Owner - Funeral Director

I was born and raised in Rouyn-Noranda. In 2001, I Graduated from Funeral Services at Boreal College in Sudbury, Ontario. Following school years I worked in the Nation’s Capital with the McGarry Family Funeral Chapels. With this very reputable firm I was able to learn the highest level of Funeral Services practices. In 2009 my wife Carine and I were able to realize one of our long time cherished dreams, to own our own Funeral Home. We purchased Irvine & Irvine funeral homes in Iroquois Falls & Cochrane. Seven years later, we were able to establish a milestone achievement by partnering Les Maisons Funéraires Génier Gauthier Funeral Home to our company. As a young entrepreneur, I am proud to be part of the development of Northeastern Ontario. To express my recognition to the people, I warmly support many local organizations in their needs. I am also highly dedicated to Funeral services. I take pride to be involved in different professional association’s trough out the country. I also believe in constant education in different aspects of my life.  It gives me the chance to enhance my abilities to serve better the families we serve. I am committed to give every family respect, compassion and professionalism.

C’est en 2001 que j’ai gradué en services funéraires au Collège Boréal à Sudbury, Ontario. Après ma formation, j’ai eu la chance de travailler dans la région de la Capitale nationale pour les Chapelles funéraires de la famille McGarry. J’ai appris, au sein de cette entreprise ayant une grande notoriété à travers le Canada, les plus hauts standards de qualité dans le domaine funéraire. En 2009, mon épouse Carine et moi-même, avons réalisé un de nos grands rêves; acquérir et diriger notre propre entreprise.  Nous avons acheté les salons funéraires Irvine & Irvine Ltd.  Nous sommes heureux d’appartenir à cette communauté du nord de l’Ontario.  Afin de solidifier mon sentiment d’appartenance, je m’implique et je suis présent dans les différentes organisations locales.  Je suis fier de mon engagement dans les différentes associations professionnelles de ma région. Il est important pour moi de maintenir une formation continue, les nouvelles connaissances acquises me permettent d’améliorer les services offerts aux familles. Je promets à chacune des familles; respect, compassion et professionnalisme.

Carine Deschênes

Owner -Funeral Director

In 1999, I graduated from Rosemont College in Montreal in Thanatology Science. Subsequently, I worked for 10 years in a funeral home in the town of Saguenay. Through these years, I was privileged to accompany families for the funeral arrangements following the death of a loved one. I have developed through my different experiences and studies meticulous skills to restore the dignity of the deceases. In addition, I studied at the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi to obtain a psychology degree certificate. After meeting my future husband Jamie, both emphasised the dream to have our own funeral business. In 2009, we had the opportunity to buy Irvine & Irvine funeral home, following the acquisition I obtained my Ontario license funeral director and now have the honor to be a licenced funeral director in two different Canadian provinces. In 2016 my husband and I were able to reinforce our dream by acquiring les Maisons Funéraires Génier Gauthier in the town of Cochrane. It is my constant desire to surpass myself with a continued educational lifestyle. I believe it makes of me a better person. I also strive at providing adequate support to families I serve with my own gentle approach.

En 1999, j’ai gradué au Collège de Rosemont à Montréal en thanatologie. Par la suite, j’ai travaillé, pendant 10 ans, à la Résidence funéraire du Saguenay, dans la région du Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean, au Québec. À travers ces années, j’ai eu le privilège d’accompagner des personnes pour l’organisation des funérailles, planifier des arrangements à l’avance ainsi qu’à redonner une dignité aux personnes décédées. De plus, j’ai étudié à temps partiel à l’Université du Québec à Chicoutimi dans le but d’obtenir mon certificat en psychologie. Suite à la rencontre de mon époux Jamie, étant tous les deux dans le métier, nous avions le rêve d’avoir notre propre entreprise funéraire. C’est en 2009 que nous avons eu l’opportunité d’acheter les salons funéraires Irvine & Irvine Ltd. C’est cette même année que j’ai obtenu mon permis de directeur de services funéraire de l’Ontario. J’ai le désir de vouloir m’impliquer dans ma communauté, de me renouveler constamment  et d’apporter mon soutien, mon expérience aux familles endeuillées.

Julie Léonard

Managing Funeral Director

A true northern girl, Julie was born in Hearst and later moved to Timmins as a young child. She also worked in retail for almost 18 years and decided to obtain her high school diploma, continue her studies at Collège Boréal in Sudbury to acquire her diploma in Funeral Service Education and finally achieves her goal as a licensed funeral director in 2008 as well as a shareholder of the funeral home.  Julie is involved in various groups and organizations in Cochrane. She is a director on the Cochrane Board of Trade, member of the Cochrane Lions Club, "les filles d’Isabelle", a member of Lady Minto Hospital Auxiliary and also helps out at the local farmer’s market. She enjoys spending time with her spouse Carl Dodds, her three daughters Lisa, Monique & Angèle, her step-sons Andrew & Riley as well as her extended families and friends. Julie and her family enjoy a variety of outdoors activities.

Julie est native du nord de l’Ontario, plus précisément de Hearst mais déménage à Timmins dans son enfance. Elle a travaillé dans le service public près de 18 ans et décide de retourner aux études pour obtenir son diplôme secondaire, continu au Collège Boréal de Sudbury pour parvenir son diplôme de Directrice de services funéraires. En 2008, elle obtient son permis de directrice de services funéraires et elle est aussi actionnaire de la maison funéraire Génier Gauthier Funeral Home. Julie est impliquée dans la communauté de Cochrane, elle est directrice de  "Cochrane Board of Trade", "Cochrane Lions Club", les filles d’Isabelle, membre auxiliaire de l’hôpital Lady Minto et aide au « Farmer’s Market » local. Elle aime être avec son conjoint Carl Dodds, ses filles Lisa, Monique et Angèle, les fils de son conjoint Andrew et Riley et sans oublier sa famille éloignée et ses amis. Julie et sa famille aiment une grande variété d’activités dans le plein air.

Brent Irvine

Born in Iroquois Falls, I grew up in both Iroquois Falls and Cochrane where I helped my parents, Nancy and Wayne Irvine, in the funeral home starting at a young age. After a number of years away to attend university  in southern Ontario, I attained my Funeral Director's Licence with Honours. Returning to settle in the north, my wife Marie-Anne and I raised our children Camryn and Alexander. Being a funeral director has allowed me to help families through one of the most difficult times in their lives.

Né à Iroquois Falls, j'ai grandi à Iroquois Falls et à Cochrane. Dès mon jeune âge, j'ai aidé mes parents, Nancy et Wayne Irvine, au salon funéraire. Après plusieurs années d'absence pour fréquenter l'université du sud de l'Ontario, j'ai obtenu mon permis de directeur de funérailles avec distinction. De retour dans le nord, mon épouse Marie-Anne et moi avons élevé nos enfants Camryn et Alexander. Être directeur de funérailles c’est de permettre d’aider les familles à traverser l'une des périodes les plus difficiles de leur vie.

Lisa Derby

Lisa has joined our team in October 2020. Her solid experience in customer care is a great asset for her. A true gentle person always caring with a compassionate approach towards others provides a great feeling of comfort for the people around her. Lisa is not afraid to learn new things to better assist the families in need and her duties at the funeral home are various from administration to providing care to the families. We are proud to be associated with Lisa as we believe in all the good things she will do for the grievers.

Angelo Paquette

Célébrant / Celebrant

Born and raised in the small village of Field in Northern Ontario, I completed my secondary school studies at École Franco Cité in Sturgeon Falls. I worked in the trades as a welder for a few years until choosing to follow my passion for music. With the band Liberos, I travelled in Ontario and Quebec where I shared my faith and culture through my music. I later obtained a Pastoral Facilitation diploma at the Collège André Grasset in Montreal. During my 20 years of experience working as the Pastoral Facilitator at École Catholique Nouveau Regard in Cochrane, Ontario, I often accompanied both students and work colleagues in mourning after the loss of a loved one. These experiences helped me better understand the importance of the mourning process and of supporting others as they go through it.  I am now joining the staff at Irvine & Irvine Funeral Homes as a celebrant. The role of the celebrant is to offer the families a celebration of life. Honouring the life of the dearly departed brings comfort and hope to those who remain. The carefully chosen songs for the celebrations at the funeral home or the cemetery grounds will help bring some comfort during these final goodbyes.  

Née dans le petit village de Field dans le nord de l’Ontario, j’ai terminé mes études secondaires à l’école Franco Cité de Sturgeon Falls. J’ai exercé le métier de soudeur pendant quelques années pour ensuite m’investir à fond dans la musique qui a toujours eu une place importante dans ma vie. Avec le groupe Liberos, je me suis promené dans les écoles de l’Ontario et du Québec à chanter ma foi et ma culture comme auteur compositeur interprète. Diplômé en animation de pastoral au collège André Grasset de Montréal. j’ai œuvré dans ce domaine dans les rues de Montréal et dans un projet de solidarité jeunesse également à Montréal. Dans mes 20 années en animation pastorale et culturelle à l’école Catholique Nouveau Regard de Cochrane, j’ai accompagné des élèves, et des collègues de travail endeuillé par la perte d’êtres chers. Ces expériences m’ont aidé à mieux comprendre l’importance de vivre le deuil lorsque l’on perd une personne que l’on aime. Je joins l’équipe des salons funéraire Irvine & Irvine à titre de célébrant. Le rôle du célébrant, est d’offrir une célébration significative aux familles en deuil. Célébrer la vie de la personne défunte apporte réconfort et espérance à ceux et celles qui restent. J’apporterai un brin de fraicheur avec des chansons soigneusement choisies lors des célébrations préparées pour le salon funéraire ou pour des célébrations au cimetière.

For a long time Gilles has been involved in funeral services providing assistance to the family in needs. We greatly appreciate his calmness, discretion and dedication.  He always conducts himself to the best of his knowledge’s and at all time we count on Gilles availability for his valuable support.

France Bouvier

France is a well-known young entrepreneur, a teacher in our area and take part in countless community events. In some of her spare time she strive to assist families in their time of sorrow. During visitations and funeral services at the funeral home her responsibility is to ensure that all needs are fulfilled for the people. France is a greatly appreciated for her caring attitude and her gentleness towards others.

France est un jeune entrepreneur réputé dans notre région, une professeure et participe à de nombreux événements communautaires. Dans ses temps libres, elle s'efforce d'aider les familles en deuil. Au cours des visites et des funérailles au salon funéraire, sa responsabilité est de veiller à ce que tous les besoins de la famille soient satisfaits. France est très appréciée pour son attitude bienveillante et sa gentillesse envers les autres.

Gerald & Michelle

Michelle and Gerald are the proud parents of Jamie. After spending a career at running a family business in Northern Quebec and Northeastern Ontario they gladly retired few years ago. Ever since, their efforts have been tremendous towards Jamie and Carine by providing great support. Sporadically both offer great assistance around the funeral home and aim for the best service they can provide. They enjoy camaraderie’s, outdoors activities but most of all spending time with their entire family.

Michelle et Gerald sont les fiers parents de Jamie. Après avoir travaillé dans une entreprise familiale du nord du Québec et du nord-est de l'Ontario, ils ont pris leur retraite avec plaisir, il y a quelques années. Depuis lors, leurs efforts ont été énormes auprès de Jamie et Carine en leur apportant un soutien exceptionnel. Sporadiquement, ils offrent une assistance précieuse autour du salon funéraire et visent le meilleur service possible. Ils ont beaucoup d’amis et aiment les activités de plein air mais adorent par-dessus tout passer du temps avec toute leur famille.

Bryan Rheault

Bryan was born in 2009 at the Lady Minto Hospital in Cochrane. He is the son of Carine and Jamie. Bryan takes pride at helping around buildings by cleaning and shoveling. He also strive to maintain the garage in a mint condition. He is a true nature lover and he spends as much time as possible in the bush to build huts and making trails. He have a strong sensibility to help others and hope to become a paramedic of firefighter.

Bryan est né en 2009 à l'hôpital Lady Minto de Cochrane. Il est le fils de Carine et Jamie. Bryan est fier d’aider pour l’entretien des bâtiments en nettoyant et en pelletant. Il s’efforce également de maintenir le garage en parfait état. C'est un vrai amoureux de la nature et il passe le plus de temps possible dans la brousse pour construire des cabanes et faire des sentiers. Il a une forte sensibilité pour aider les autres et espère devenir un ambulancier ou un pompier.

Eliam Rheault

Eliam was born on August 13, 2012 at Lady Minto Hospital in Cochrane and his the baby in our family. Eliam’s ambition are all around sports, he is a true hockey fan and make every efforts not to miss a NHL game on television. He is a proud and devoted player for the Iroquois Falls Senior Tykes team. Eliam is a very meticulous boy who likes to learn new things and not afraid to ask questions to become more knowledgeable.

Il est un vrai fan de hockey et fait tout son possible pour ne pas manquer un match de la LNH à la télévision. Il est un joueur fier et dévoué à son équipe senior Tykes à Iroquois Falls. Eliam est un garçon méticuleux qui aime apprendre de nouvelles choses et n'a pas peur de poser des questions pour devenir plus informé.
