This photo was given to us by Mrs. Robert Smith. Many people may still remember the original Furniture Store and Funeral Home.

Robert Smith established the Funeral Home and Furniture Store in Cochrane.
He was born in North Dakota but brought to Canada as a small infant.
Mr. Smith was mayor of Cochrane in 1934, 1935, 1944, and 1945. He was a keen student in municipal affairs. He initiated many important projects.
Robert Smith died in 1947 leaving his wife to run the Furniture store and Funeral Home. His son Robert Smith Jr. came back to Cochrane to help his mother in 1949.
Robert met his wife Shirley who came as a nurse from Prince Edward Island. They ran the business until July 1977 when they sold the business to Wally Haw and Wayne Irvine.
Thomas Duffus bought the business from Wayne Irvine in 2004. Since he has bought the business he has been doing renovations and decorating
2009 - A new era begins for the Irvine & Irvine Funeral Home Iroquois Falls and Cochrane. Jamie Rheault and Carine Deschênes are proud to be the owners of these companies almost two hundred years old that are part of the history of their respective municipalities. 1924- Mr. Robert Smith a établi le salon funéraire et le magasin de meuble à Cochrane
1947-M. Robert Smith est mort laissant sa femme pour diriger le magasin de meubles et le salon funéraire.
1949-Leur fils, Robert Smith Jr., revient à Cochrane pour aider sa mère. Il rencontra son épouse Shirley et ont pris la relève de l’entreprise jusqu’en juillet 1977.
1977- Wally Haw et Wayne Irvine deviennent les nouveaux propriétaires.
1997- Le salon funéraire Irvine & Irvine s’agrandit et fait maintenant partie de la ville d’Iroquois Falls.
2004- Après plusieurs années dans les services funéraires, la famille Irvine décida de se retirer et de vendre à M. Thomas Duffus
2009- Une nouvelle ère commença pour le salon funéraire Irvine & Irvine à Iroquois et Cochrane. Jamie Rheault et Carine Deschênes sont fiers d’être les nouveaux propriétaires. Cette jeune famille dynamique est maintenant à votre service pour vous accompagner dans ces moments difficiles.
Mr. Ronald W.H. Smith (1935) was the original owner and founder of the Iroquois Falls Funeral Home. He also established a monument business in the late 40's.
Mr. Daniel Johnston bought the Funeral Home from Mr. Smith in the early 80's. Mr. Johnston established himself here and built a house. He lived in the area for many years. Mr. Johnston sold the business to Nicol Malette in the late 80's.
Mr. Wayne Irvine bought the Funeral Home in 1997. Mr. Irvine merged Cochrane Funeral Home and Iroquois Falls Funeral Home into one family owned business.
2004- After several years in the funeral, the family Irvine decided to retire and sell to Mr. Thomas Duffus.

Début années 80- M. Daniel Johnson a acheté la maison funéraire de M. Smith.
Fin années 80- M. Johnson a vendu l'entreprise à M. Nicol Malette
1997- La famille Irvine, déjà établis à Cochrane, fais l’acquisition du salon à Iroquois Falls.
